Ray Bange represented PA at the recent National Stakeholder Roundtable held by the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) in Canberra on 29 June.  Paramedics Australasia was invited to provide representation for the pre-hospital health profession.

The key theme for the Roundtable was a discussion on the introduction of Medicare Locals, which is a key component of the Commonwealth Government’s national health reform agenda.  Medicare Locals will help to improve coordination and integration of primary health care in local communities, address service gaps and make it easier for people to navigate their local health care system.

The program for the roundtable explored the opportunities and challenges that exist for key organisations and health professional groups to effectively and meaningfully engage in the implementation of Medicare Locals at the regional and national levels.  Key actions and solutions were also identified to enhance engagement and involvement in the new primary health care arena.
