An ACAP delegation met with John Wakerman, former President of the National Rural Health Alliance (NHRA) and current Director of the Centre for Remote Health on Wednesday 5 May 2010.

The ACAP delegation consisted of Ian Patrick (President), Les Hotchin (Secretary), Sandra Schmidt (Director), and Ray Bange.

The discussion was centred around the current state of emergency medical services within Australia and the significant challenges that exist with respect to health equity in remote areas. The current lack of paramedic registration, the development of the paramedic profession, and the opportunities for paramedics to enhance rural and remote health were also discussed.
