The Flinders University Research Centre for Disaster Resilience and Health (FURCDRH) was launched by the South Australian Minister for Health (The Honourable John Hill MP) on Friday 12 March 2010. The ceremony was held at the Flinders University campus in Bedford Park (SA) and was well attended by delegates from around Australia. ACAP was represented by Alan Eade (Vice President).

The centre was opened following a stimulating address by its inaugural director , Professor Paul Arbon AM.

Already the new centre has been making progress with its certification as a World Health Organisation (WHO) collaboration centre, and an accredited International Council of Nursing (ICN) centre for research in Disaster Nursing.
