ACAP represented by Doug Wright (Director) and Ray Bange (Policy Consultant) met with the ACT Minister for Police and Emergency Services (Mr Simon Corbell MLA) in Canberra on Friday 25 June 2010.

The discussion was centred around the current state of emergency medical services within Australia and the lack of paramedic registration. Also discussed was the development of the paramedic profession, and the absence of EMS from the current national health care reform agenda. Funding models, and opportunities that could be developed under the national health reform framework were also discussed.

Pleasingly there were a large number of the associated ministries represented by their executives and senior advisors at this meeting. This provided an excellent opportunity for the College to present to the broadest EMS audience possible.
