ACAP represented by Sandra Schmidt (Director) met with The Hon Warren Snowdon MP, Member for Lingiari, and Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural and Regional Health & Regional Services Delivery on Tuesday 8 June 2010.
This followed on from a previous meeting with Mr Snowdon’s staff in May 2010.
The discussion was centred around the current state of emergency medical services within Australia and the significant challenges that exist with respect to health equity in remote areas. The current lack of paramedic registration, the development of the paramedic profession, and the opportunities for paramedics to enhance rural and remote health were also discussed.
Further meetings are to be scheduled later this month in Canberra.
