An industry forum at Edith Cowan University on Friday 23rd September was well attended with representatives from major companies such as BHP and various private providers of paramedic services in Western Australia.

The meeting was addressed by PA national policy advisor Ray Bange about the future directions of the paramedic profession and the implications of independent registration for paramedics in concert with a national health workforce strategy. The forum participants expressed strong support for a more effective regulatory framework for the provision of paramedic services and the harmonisation of such services with improved Occupational Health and Safety requirements that took account of the occupational levels of risk in many industry settings.
