Following the resignation of the CEO for Ambulance Victoria (AV), Greg Sassella, an Expression of Interest process was conducted to appoint an interim CEO. This process has now concluded and Andrew Way, currently Chief Executive of Alfred Health, has been appointed as Interim CEO.
Andrew will commence at AV for a handover process with Greg during the last week of November, and will formally commence his secondment to AV from Monday 1 December.
In taking up this appointment Andrew says “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Board and staff of Ambulance Victoria and very much look forward to learning more about AV and helping it along its journey of continuing improvement”.
Andrew brings a wealth of experience in the health sector, having had an extensive career in English NHS teaching hospitals before moving to Australia and Alfred Health in 2009. Andrew’s focus has concentrated on improving access to health services, engaging with patients’ experiences, as well as clinical and research leadership, all within a strong financial framework.
Andrew has also held a number of senior advisory roles for the Minister and Department of Health, as well as Board appointments within the sector, including Baker IDI, and the Health Roundtable.
