The Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is conducting a review of the Ambulance Service Act 1982. Tasmanian ambulance legislation has not been reviewed for more than 30 years and over this time there have been significant structural changes in the role of ambulance services nationally.

In January 2013 the DHHS released a consultation paper, which outlines areas of concern with the Act and details the proposed actions to improve the current legislation.

Paramedics Australasia submitted a response to the consultation, which supports the overall objectives of the review to ensure the quality and safety of healthcare services and the protection of the public. View PA’s response to the consultation here.
