As part of its commitment to developing the long term framework for professional practice, Paramedics Australasia (PA) has been active in establishing the Paramedicine Role Descriptions and advocating for national registration.

Another key aspect of professionalism is the development of a standard for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that would underpin and ensure the maintenance of best practice paramedic services.

On Saturday 30 November PA convened a wide-ranging CPD Forum with representatives drawn from Australian and New Zealand Ambulance Services, ADF, Private Employers, Unions, Universities and other key stakeholders to review initial proposals for a National Standard for CPD that would be appropriate for paramedics.

Further information on these CPD developments and the nature of any proposals for long term professional development will be publicised as it becomes available. To remain informed on these and other moves related to paramedic practice and regulation, make sure you visit the website regularly or join PA and receive updates directly via email and the regular e-Newsletter Rapid Response.
