As previously advised to members, amendments to the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law are being considered by the Health, Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee of the Queensland Parliament. Submissions received by the Committee have now been published.
We can report that the majority of the submissions concern matters that do not relate to the registration of paramedics. The registration of paramedics has received general support from consumer and practitioner organisations. The Committee will now report back to Parliament by Friday 11 August 2017 and we will advise members of the outcome of Parliament consideration after the sitting on 11 August 2017.
Once the amendments to the National Law – including registration of paramedics law – is passed, the Paramedicine Board of Australia will be formally established and the next phase towards national registration will commence.
